Neal Smith answered a question about his cymbal/cymbol arrangement & sizes of cymbals.Bun E a gentleman in the highest order, about storeage of drums. Ginger Baker a few times.Talked to many drummers when I took pictures at The Keystone Berkeley and The Stone in the City. Those were wild nights!!! Daryll Daragons brother from the Surf Punks was kinda a jerk. But the whole band acts like that for their show. When they all go out into the crowd they start hitting "valleys" during one of their songs.but my guest at the show was a Black belt and kicked the **** out of 4 of them before they got back on stage.haha They don't pull punches and people were getting knocked all over the place..Thats it for me......Oh Paul Cook for the Sex Pistols was pretty friendly even though he had a terrible sunburn from Sight seeing around a bay area

When Joe English was with Sea Level I asked him what kind of ride he was playing. His reply, "How the f*ck should I know!"LoLoLoLo

Is this the same guy who played with McCartney & Wings in the mid 1970s?

Weird? He would be instantly recognizable to anyone here. If I had published his name along with the story there would have been 50 more requests for 'favors' to follow. I get it, I didn't blame him - although I would have loved to give him the credit he deserved for it. Without him, it couldn't have happened. He didn't do what he did for me... he did it because he likes and appreciates Mike Layton. Mike knows who he is. I wanted him to be able to thank him personally, which he did. I only shared the story because you asked and because I wanted to say that my one run-in with one of my drumming hero's was a terrific experience. I got to meet a genuinely decent and generous person.

I hope he gets to read this. I want him to know that none of us has forgotten his generosity. He had to put himself out to make it happen. This guy is 'great' in more ways than one.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

I must say that the few guys I have reached out to, and or happened to meet have all been class acts. Can't really think of anyone who left me with a sour taste.

Meeting Jason Bonham was quite an experiece for me...He is a "down to earth" person who has a great sense of humour!! You just feel comfortable around him...When he comes back to my area, I would like to talk with him again...

Cheers
