That is a question that will never be answered and I have never seen it before. Maybe someone else on the forum has.

For practicality purposes I would put the correct strainer on and keep the butt with the drum for later sale if needed.

I doubt Gretsch ever sent out that drum with a butt in place of the renown throw off. Probably, the original one was broken, and those adjustable buts use the same holes and are pretty easy to find.

Glad I tracked down that renown throwoff when I did.
