Gretsch "Drop G"

Hi, all - last night, I purchased a set of Gretsch "Drop G" drums for a few hundred bucks, sight unseen. When I picked them up, I was surprised by how massive they are. Configuration is:

BD 24x 14

Tom 12 x 8

Tom 13 x 9

Floor 18 x 16

They're in pretty good shape. I intend to clean them up and flip them.

I'm not very savvy with vintage drums and have a few questions:

1. Are those blonde bass drum hoops original?

2. I'm missing some tension rods. Anyone have some they'd like to sell?

3. I know there's a huge demand for Gretsch Bop kits, etc., but how do people feel about 24-inch bass drums and 18-inch floor toms these days? They're too big for my use. Is there decent demand for this configuration?

Yes there's demand. the 18" is on one side of the "scale'....the 24" is on the other.

I looked at a set like that many years ago in a Lady's basement (should have bought them then) Hoops? hmm probably not check the quality of edge both sides of the hoop if really really well done could have been..not a biggie either way..

Nice drums.

Looks like No Mods anywhere. you have factory mufflers all over the place; like to see Spurs.. Can add a 1 to the front of what you paid. If you're not going to use them Or have Room for them..

It's the Tony Sliding Scale. 18" Bd on one end....24" on the other.

NO in Between : ) That's how you're going to have to promote them. ;)

He had 13,14 up top and 14.16.18. Fts but close enough for Jazz.

(could probably find him using 12/13 up top 24 bass early early on) but close enough.

Any Gretsch is Good Gretsch . Unmolested all-original huge bonus.

FACTORY mufflers . 4 Leg 18" Gretsch FT (floor tom) is a Gretsch standard going back to the early fifties.

Serial Number puts them- according the Gretsch Book..

1980.

Not a lot of Gretsch drums were made that year..102xxx...to 113xxx...were the serials.

All Creative Research hardware.

I bought it when it came out and still have it! I was a huge Return to Forever fan, which led me to that album. Tony's drums sounded massive...
