Got the Bass done (Majestic)

Pretty much finished the bass drum. This drum is so clean you could eat off of it! Not a speck of rust left. Was able to clean the original front head with this cool graphic. I think it was made to put your initials in each circle. Hoops had the inlay removed, sanded, primed, painted and inlays put back. All screws washers etc. cleaned. All chrome cleaned and polished. Had a 20" clear Remo head in pretty good shape. Used that so you can see the immaculate grey painted interior and sparkling hardware. The tom, FT and snare are almost done. The tom and FT had virgin Remo Sounmasters on the bottoms so I flipped them to the tops and going to GC to pick up some clears for the bottoms. I can't describe how good this MIJ set sounds. I may not want to part with it but I need $$ to put into my Kent "coffin lug" restore. Rich.

That looks absolutely fantastic! Great job on the makeover. I'm growing fonder of MIJ kits every time I come on here.

Okay, but this is the state it's in right now. It's complete but in a dozen bags. Wrap is awesome, (rewrapping the snare from Precision) chrome is great. Pics as I progress. Rich.

My post should be entered here as well:

From Ralf

Somewhere here in the VDF someone has posted an old Apollo or ... ? US-catalogue where is 'OXO' logo can be seen. But by accident, now I found the logo here again:http://www.coopersvintagedrums.com/article_japanese_imports.htmThere it stands on a Majestic bass drum, too!RalfNB: richm, that project of your's brings out a fantastic drumset!

That bass drum looks pristine now. Great job! What a shine. I think it's kind of neat that the BD logo has a spot for your initials. I like that idea. Very retro-cool. Can't wait to see the rest. Good luck with the Kents too. Cool1

A little more progress. Have to pick up a bottom head for the tom and then tackle the grungy old FT. The snare sounds like what I've been trying to get my Gretsch to sound like for the last year. No wonder guys use these MIJ's in the studio!
