The badge on hoop is so cool another great idea from back in the day. Maybe a certain drum maker of today will say they thought of that idea just like the rest of the drums they build as so called original with ideas they say are theirs when it was done back in the 20's...I think not. Definitely a great made in Canada drum.
George Way 1918 snare drum
Hi friends. I am thinking of putting skins on this beauty!
My curiosity has gotten to Me , and I am thinking that with the wood hoops this might be a great sounding snare!.
I am sure there is a thread here with the right info but I could use some guidance so I don't screw up thanks!
Hey check this out !George Way put the badge on the hoop instead of the shell .Common back then or another innovation of His ?Comments ?
Pretty Common Actually. I know of several companies who did that including:
Ludwig
Geo B Stone
Duplex
Leedy
Bower
Nokes & Nickolai
etc...
Nittanyperc....Thanks for that info... I am fascinated by the George way story
Any chance that you could dig up a picture or two of those drum badges on hoops?
They were obviously only on the wood snares , and must be real lookers too!
Cheers johnny
