Aaahhh, the Acrolite -one of the best designed/sounding snare drums anywhere -and consistently so, no matter what the model. I have one of the "worst" and least desirable ones ever made ....and it's great. it's every bit a Supra -except the fingerprints don't show. They are almost indestructible. There were maybe a trillion of them made, too. They will likely always be inexpensive -except for the special or early ones, maybe. I can't think of another brand of drums that had as much success with a "student" or "beginner's" snare drum as Ludwig did with the Acrolite. There was no other brand that offered as much for so little, as far as I can think of. Slingerland? No...Rogers? No...Gretsch? No. The Acrolite was the drum that gave even the beginner a professional-level snare drum. In a blindfold test, I'd put it up against anything.

Indeed, it's the Plymouth Valiant of the drum industry. Dressed up or dressed down, it always gets you there.
