I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to put this here for posterity,

As a fellow Canuck, I grew up listening to bands like April Wine, Rush, Triumph, Saga, Max Webster & could go on....

I like the connection with Jerry Mercer and the Fibes drums, had no idea. I did meet him once, years ago, and he told me about some drums he was involved with, and described lifting up the bass drum with one finger! Fibreglass or Carbon Fibre, may have been Monolith Drums

He used to be listed in the Montreal phonebook as "Jerry Mercer-Drummer for April Wine" and I called him, when I was 14, ha

Hey thanks GAR, well we grew up listening to exactly the same stuff!

Yes, he and a partner, William (Bill) Hibbs invested in creating Monolith Drums, super light weight out of carbon fiber.

Jerry has always been a fantastic guy to me along the way. He used to check into Hotels as 'Mr. Redgrave'.

I've had several chances to share a few laughs with Jerry about the Fibes over the years and show him some of these pics. He said he loved the drums but those 24" kicks were hard to get up and over to reach the toms. I didn't seem like he was having any problems to me!

To those who were wondering on the sizes of the drums:

Thanks treviso1 !

I'll put up a few more pics and yes I have some from behind the kit.

The 1974 kit as originally acquired is:

24" x 14" BD x 2

18" x 16 " FT

16" x 16" FT

14" x 10" TT x 2

13" x 9" TT x 2

14" x 6" SN

As you can see, I have over the bass drums a single 13" x 9 " and 14" x 10 TT

Under the main Hi hat I've placed another 14" x 10" TT

I removed one 13" x 9 from the set up.

I added NEW in 2003 the high rack toms, 12" x 10" and 10" x 10"

I've also acquired a 14" x 5 1/2" COF snare, that I'm using instead of the original Crystalite one.

Let me know if you want cymbal info too !
