Fibes Crystalite Double Forte 1973-74

Loading...

Wanted to share with the group my beloved Fibes Crystalite "Double Forte" set up that I've had since 1978. I added the 10" x 10 and 12" x 10 high toms (Austin era) to the original kit in 2003.

Outdoor shot, standing in for my 6 x 14" Crystalite snare is a Rogers Dynasonic. One 14" x 10 tom is under the hi-hat.

Bandroom shot, in front of the kit - my Rogers dynasonic, a 5 x 14" Crystalite, my main snare 5 1/2 x 14" COF, and the originbal 6 x 14" that came with the kit.

Those look gorgeous outdoors. Like new! Not a fan of clear acrylic drums but yours are the best I've ever seen. Great.

Thanks TommyP - nice to connect with you here ! Loved your video of the Buddy Rich snare collection. He sure was right about the classic Chrome over Fiberglass model. I love mine.

Thanks all for your kind comments as well too, it's nice to connect with such a great community.

I've put a lot of work into keeping these beautiful old drums in tip-top playing condition.

I bought them as a 17 year old teenager (thanks Dad!) from Jerry Mercer of April Wine in 1978 and have had them ever since. They were used to record April Wine - Stand Back (many of you might recognize the song 'Oowatanite', that starts with the Firebell), the April Wine 'Live' album from 1974 - which features these drums on a live drum solo track called 'Good Fibes'.
