Eric Carr KISS miniature replica Crazy Nights drum set

Loading...

In 1988, I made from nothing a model kit of the Eric CARR huge drum set from the Crazy Nights tour. A massive Ludwig full of chrome set with Chikara symbol. I met him after the KISS show in Paris and gave him as a gift. It was an amazing afternoon spent with him, he was very very sweet.

Now, 27 years later, I'm a professionnal model maker and a KISS fan asked me to make a new one for his personal collection... So, the adventure starts and I invite you to follow the work in progress here

I am/was a huge KISS fan. As a matter of fact I started playing drums because of Peter Criss. We can all argue how good Peter Criss is, but he definitely inspired thousands of drummers to catch the bug.

I will post pics of the WIP here, don't worry.

Yes Peter Criss is also really important in KISS, I met him but it wasn't the same "feeling" than I had with Eric Carr.

Another cool stuff, when I made the first model kit, I wasn't really aware about how Eric's drum set was really. I was just watching again and again the Video tapes (yes dvd didn't exist at this time) and guess which toms and cymbales he used. So, I told him and he kindly wrote his complete set on a paper... and as a bonus, the original ticket of the show (signed by Eric on the other side)

From what I've read Eric Carr was a really good guy.

Your model is impressive. Great attention to detail. Hope you share more photos as the project progresses.

During the Work In Progress, I'll use some objects a reference, a KISS CD "Chikara" and a pick gave by Bruce Kulick in 1988...

First, some pics of a stand, the different parts and the stand assembled.

It works like a real one. I need to make 20 for Eric's drum set.

Next step will be to mold the different parts and cast in resin then paint with a chrome finish.
