eBay listing that infuriates me!

Yeah I don't know....It's hard to gauge intrinsic value. I'm not referring to the kit for sale....rather an unmolested version of said kit. But it really depends on how long the legend of Bonham endures. If future generations continue to iconize him, then maybe the "stuff" related to his icon will continue to grow in value. But, in all honestly, I think music is going to continue to evolve in ways we can't even think of and Bonham will be the future Baby Dodds or someone like that....Zutty Singleton or someone...ya know? -meaning that only a few historians will recognize the name. As fades the legend, so fades all the related trappings.

But I really think what we are witnessing in the one for sale is a father/son relationship thing and not so much a serious sale. He might as well price it at ten million dollars....Why not, right? Guaranteed it's not leaving the guy's house!

I think WE are the guys who have been sweeping up all the toys we like and can relate to....and I think the day will come, when we are all dead and gone, that no one will want what we value so highly, now. No one will care about Bonham one day. One day, no one will know how to play a violin and Stradivarius violins will just become some dusty old dumb things in a museum. See what I mean? *shrugs shoulders*

Yeah, but these kids are brought up on computer generated, disposable "music". Drum and guitar solo's dont mean much to them. They are not playing in nearly the numbers that the boomers did, and garage bands are pretty well a historical novelty from what I can see, DJs have taken over the wedding and party scene, so yeah, when we're all long gone, drums, especially vintage, will go the way of the Model T.

Although, I hope I'm wrong!

I hope you're right. I don't know many young drummers, to be honest, but the ones I do know, would rather have DW, Tama, Pearl and Yamaha drums, rather than the old stuff we like.

All the cool, younger drummers dig the vintage gear. I suggest you go on YouTube and look up vintage Ludwig drums and you'll see a lot of the guys posting videos are younger drummers.

That's good to hear. I will do that. I saw a young band recently called Ward Hayden & The Outliers, and their drummer had a nice vintage Slingerland set, but he seemed like the exception. We're now friends on FB.

Yes, all the "cool young drummers" dig vintage gear, meaning "Ludwig", simply because it is still a viable company. How many of them have heard, or care, about Camco, Fibes, Rogers and Slingerland? I think there will be a market for our beloved vintage drums, but that market keeps shrinking as the years go by.
