Duplex Drums

Loading...

I have a chance to pick up this Duplex kit in a black diamond pearl finish. From what I understand Henry Grossman who owned Rogers bought the Duplex name and used the same Rogers shells on these drums. Although he couldn't use the beavertail lugs or swivelmatic hardware. I know they are extremely rare and this kit is in near mint condition. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Depends on price of course, but that's a rare find indeed.

Well, it would actually be a trade deal. A friend of mine saw that I had bought that custom Rochefort kit and asked if I would trade it for the Duplex and a 24" Rogers XP8 kick.

I think your friend needs to sweeten the deal a bit more. That Texas kit is really nice.

How does the Duplex kit sound, and what are your plans for the Rochefort? Just a practice kit or would gig with them?

The Duplex is basically a Rogers, made in Cleveland with the same shells, so I'm sure they sound good. Any kit I own I gig with, I don't have much in the Rochefort, so it may be a good deal.

In 20 years the Duplex will still hold it's value though the Roquefort (cheese) kit may not :)

Yeah, I don't think the band in the video you posted are gonna set the world on fire... You'll find plenty of players interested in the history of the Duplex.

I just thought it was interesting to see the kit I just bought being used by a touring band. They actually have some good original music. Before buying this kit, I'd never heard of Rochefort drums or The Wheeler Brothers.

Definitely! Just throwing some different perspectives out. I think this is a situation where you can't go wrong.
