Steve Maxwell said a nice 3 pc. Duplex kit is worth a grand. I don't have near that much in the Rochefort kit. I think I should do the trade, especially since my buddy is throwing in an XP8 24" kick.

It sounds like an awesome deal!

I would like to hear some opinions from the Rogers guys.

You might call me a Rogers guy, but at the moment I do have one Ludwig set. I also have a Duplex wood block. Beyond that, I don't know anything more about the Duplex drums than you have already mentioned. I've seen them for sale from time-to-time, but I don't recall ever seeing one up close or having an opportunity to play one. I tend not to buy the 20, 12, 16 configuration or BDP and don't like rail mounts very much either, so I probably wouldn't buy one unless it was a matter of completing an extensive Rogers collection. However, collecting doesn't seem to have been your mode of operation.

On the other hand, if you aren't all that thrilled with the Rochefort set, why not trade?

I like the Rochefort, but I'll probably do the trade.

How many sets like that exist in the U.S. now? Half-dozen maybe. That is a nice, rare (TRULY) set I'd do the deal on.

As far as monetary value goes you have two kits that are hard to gauge, the duplexes are so uncommon it is hard to determine what they are worth in the vintage market, and the Rocheforts are a smaller maker boutique and probably hard to determine value, although Boutique kits almost never bring over a thousand dollars.More like 500.00 to 700.00 AFAIK.

If Steve Maxwell says the Duplex kits bring 1000.00 meaning that is what he could get for one,I think private sale money would be closer to 600.00 700.00 maybe less because

a lot of vintage buyers still want the more well known brands like Ludwig Rogers etc, whereas Steve gets more knowledgeable traffic.

I would say the Rogers BD is worth at least 175.00

So if you have 700.00 or less in the Rocheforts I say the swap is a fair trade for everybody, unless you plan to flip and that would depend on how much you have in the Rocheforts.

Well, I only have $400 in the Rochefort, so I'm not so much concerned with the value of the Duplex, but the quality. I would gig with it occasionally instead of my Brook Mays Rogers. I've never had any experience with one of these kits and was hoping to find someone who has.
