Thanks! I was pleased to have the music director send it to me... I hadn't thought of that, he did!

He's been thrilled over these... 'cause I literally (re)built and then sold these to the school at a small fraction of the cost they were looking at in buying new drums. In fact, he said with their budget, new drums were simply not going to happen. He's really been pushing me to "open up" a little in making my business "known," as he says there are probably hundreds of public schools and small colleges in the same boat... and seeing this video kinda makes me a little more interested in doing just that!

So, if you (or anyone else, for that matter), know of a school (or other organization) looking for drums but have a small budget, let me know. My "overhead" is so low I can offer some very reasonable prices (and I'm still making decent money, too!).

And, I'll work for trades, too. When I did our local HS's drum line last summer, they had no money in the budget for drums at all. But, they had a TON of older band/drum equipment setting around, and we just traded that pile of stuff for my labor, the parts needed, and the wrap... And it took awhile, but I actually came out pretty good selling out of what they thought was "junk" and recycling drums and parts. About half of the BCCC's drum line in the video was made up of stuff out of that trade.

Anyway, I need to get back to fixin' computers.

Later,

Bill

Drum thunder~! Great vid Bill they sound great. I tell you that could be a nice little side gig for you if you choose to persue it. That's how my oldest got in the trade. He started fixing instruments at the music store he taught at for extra cash. The place closed and people started calling him to do guitar setups and repairs. He was a sax teacher and ended up a luthier. Got to the point he had more repair work than sax lessons and so it began. 10 years later he's doing pretty well with guitar builds, repairs and appraisals. His shop is at home so he's home with the wife and kids everyday. No real overhead. He works 6-7 days a week but really enjoys it.

If you have that many schools around you looking to do the same type drum restorations that would keep you busy and somewhat fund the hobby. Yes Sir

Glenn,

Thanks for the encouragement. I am looking to this taking over when I actually retire. I'll restore & build drums until I die then!
