Do you have a high pitch crash near your FT?

Loading...

I've heard that you should,..because when you come out of a fill, thats usually where you end up..........on the FT.........

Then, you don't have to reach above your mounted tom(s) to hit a crash.........

I've been doing that ever since I read that...........

Yeah, figured out myself that that's very handy!

especially cause i play a lot on my ride it feels logical to end on the right after a fill!!

Have one on the left aswell, but hey, you can't have to much cymbals right? ;)

I have a 17" 2002 thin above my FT. That way for 20 years. Just kind of happened that way.

18" crash over my rack tom, 19" crash over my ride, 16" crash just to the right of my ride, slightly above the floor tom. I find that set up handy, because I do a 3 hit combo with the cymbals often (16 with RH, 18 with LH, 19 with RH...). Also, when I play the ride or end a fill on the low tom, I have the option of crashing the largest or the smallest crash on the right side. Works for me.

I use an 18" Rock Crash over my 16" floor tom, as well as a 15" Lampshade cymbal (china/splash-ish sound) over my 18" floor tom.

I have two crashes; a bright A.Zildjian thin 16" over the rack tom and a dark sounding 18" Istanbul Sultan crash right over my two floor toms. My thinking is; the 'bright' crash over the 'high' tom, 'dark' crash over the 'deep' sounding floor toms. Just sounds good to me set-up that way. Good spread on the pitch of the cymbals, lots of contrast. Gish, goosh.
