Cymbal question

Loading...

I have another question. I bought some cymbals. One is a 22" ride and the others are 15" hi hats. They are zildjian but they are really thin. They look old but I don't know. This is what the stamp looks like. Are they keepers or sellers?

Three dots. Looks like a 1960's cymbal to me.

Hello 25Drummergirl,

I would say those are keepers, but then again I like Zildjians.

I would say Pops is correct on the age.

Girl would I like to get a set of 15's

Nice score.

I just played the 15" hi hats. I don't like them. None of my other cymbals are as thin/light weight as these. Don't like 'em.

Aren't you going to show the Slingerland kit you bought too?

sorry to hear that you don't like them.

Maybe they are not hihats but hand held crash cymbals.

Just a thought.

Julia,

Too bad you don't like those 15" hats. It's good to have a few different HH cymbals in your arsenal, but if you really don't like their sound, you'll have no problem getting rid of them here in the FOR SALE section. How do you keep finding all this nice vintage stuff???

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Julia,

So what's up with the Slingerland kit? Package deal with the cymbals? I'm jealous how you keep snagging such nice stuff.

I got them all together. IDK, I just watch craigslist. I bought it because it was black and gold (our school colors) and I was going to use it for Jazz Band, but the set is not very nice. The guy that plays set is a senior this year and I will be a freshman next year. The set he uses are his. The drums are in OK shape, but the tom mounts are not original ones. The bass drum is missing all the claws and lugs for the front and the inlay is coming out of the hoops. It's the gold satin flame color. The cymbals came with it, but I don't like them. The hi-hat stand is an old Ludwig and so is the bass drum pedal. Everything else is Slingerland but only the snare and the 12" have a badge. The rest of the drums look like they never had one. I probably shouldn't have bought it, but I did. I did clean up the snare and I do like that! Thumpy! We have our state band and orchestra festival in a couple of weeks and I'm going to ask my band teacher if I can use that drum. It does look cool.

About the cymbals, why are they do thin and flexy? Are they just cheap or is it because they're old?
