Yup - that's the snare I am talking about - though wish we could see the throw and butt - which may be an adjuster - both sides have adjustment knobs on mine - bet yours does as well. I respectfully disagree with your theory on the mount. Perhaps you have a rare QA flaw that escaped out of the factory without being caught by someone's eye. Or it was changed out a long time ago and appears to be original. The angle of the mount sleeve (for lack of a better term) shows that it is designed to be offset. I'm not dissin' it or you or anything - just seems obvious to me, as I have seen these before and also others on these kits mounted in the middle. Most, if not all of the single mounts were offset, so long as the other side featured the cymbal arm mount. The doubles were in the middle. I just don't believe they made and sold kits with tom mount posts shooting out on an angle, when the mount sleeve is designed as it is (angle) so as to align straight up when mounted offset. I was going to add a little 10 incher, but could not find a close enough match for the wrap. So, I decided to leave it. In that process I was shopping for battleship lugs and had a hard time finding them - found some on ebay with a buyer that wanted a fortune for them. I decided to abandon the project and they started popping up on the bay for much less. Ain't that the way it goes!?!Any of your drums on these 2 kits have re-rings? None on mine. John
John,This is my understanding on these mounts. The mount on the Crest set on the bass drum i would say that someone at sometime change it out.Why the drum was drilled for a double tom mount. The mount is in the center of the drum about 6" from badge straight mount. On the single tom mount its about 6" from badge and about 3" over from center of drum like on your set john at a angle.I also know that Pearl made two sizes of these tom mounts. The one on the Crest set is for a double tom set up,the hex tube is about 7" long that goes in the tube from the bass drum the tube end that goes into tom is about 3" long the drum key nut is on the side of mount. The single tom set up arm is about 7" long this end goes into the bass drum, the end that goes into tom is about 8" long the drum key nut is on the top...Mikey
