Cracked Slingerland

Loading...

Sorry it's been a while!!

Thanks for your advise and replies.

I have just done one thing to this drum so far...

Gone out n played it!!! It is a little cracker! Really versatile, warm n responsive but it can give a good crack too when you tune it up. I put a coated Ambassador on top (the only snare batter head - as those on here who know me will quietly sigh at this point ! :-D ) I've been gigging it with my 70's Gretsch and the go together a treat :-)

Here are the pre refurb pics from when I got my hands on it I promised;

If anyone has any new info now you've seen pics let me know. It's allegedly a 1952 drum.

Cheers

Meat

The badge suggests somewhere between '56 and '59...same as the badge on my kit. As far as the crack goes, I'm with jrfrond, I think a thin Super Glue would keep the crack from spreading.

Cool drum!

From lucky

Is it a solid shell and original finish?

No it was wrapped in its first life I think, the green is glue soaked into the wood I suspect. I'm thinking of covering at some point - when I get my Luddy to gig with instead while I'm doing it... I'll prob try get a cleaner badge cos as our man above says, its messed up a bit.

Thanks Man. It's a joy to play. For the money I paid I'm delighted.

You gotta get that wrap out from under the badge, the badge will clean right up nice !! Try high % alcohol from the store first !! Or nail polish remover !! Nothing abrasive cuz I still see the original color in the back !! Be very very very sure before selecting the gromett, there`s plenty of pics. around here !!
