Hi, Michael. Indeed, nice to see you here. I do see the snare is 5 1/2 ... still sounds nice and looks pretty good. Funny, when I first took it near the other snare, the BB, the thought came to me that it looked bigger, but I quickly forgot about that small issue as I was anxious to start playing it. Needed to use the same snare stand, but I intend to get another, why I have no idea. This hobby just goes and goes through the dough.
Is this the ebay auction you are speaking of David? It is still in my Watching page.

Is the $3,700 a fair price for that kit?
As a matter of fact, I communicated with Marty, the seller of the set, the day before the auction ended. I was just unable to educate myself regarding the set in that short amount of time, so I passed, but I did almost purchase it. I came very close. That same week, there was another one out of San Francisco, but it was not in good condition, if I recall correctly. Hopefully another will come along. Or a simple three piece. Until then, I can use the time to learn about the kits. I would certainly pay $4,000 for a great vintage set, if I was comfortable with what I was doing. Thanks much for that great attachment of the ad. I increased it once opened and find it very useful ... and entertaining.
Here is a snare I almost bought this weekend, with the plan to sell the drum and keep the stand and case. Didn't go for too much, but I don't know. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=290193198848&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=019
Anyway, thanks again for the replies. Joey
