Buckie-B is absolutely correct. Now just go ahead and hand those weak fragile Camco drums over to me and I'll take care of them for you Cool Dude
Laughing H was thinking the exact same thing to say. i'd take good care of them too. lol.
It's a shame they're so few pictures around of Jim Gordon playing his Camcos. The black and white picture is a close up of Jim Gordon during the Bonnie & Friends concert with Eric Clapton and George Harrison in Stockholm on 13 December 1969. The bass drum only got 8 lugs so my guess would be 22". Also during the Mad Dogs & Englishman tour it appears to be 22,16,13,12 with lots of additional concert toms. Those were Tama I believe.
Probably the best footage of Jim Gordon playing his Walnut Camcos is on the Johnny Cash Show with Derek And The Dominos.
I would love to know if other members found more,... please share.
Were the concert toms Jim Gordon used during the 'Mad Dogs and Englishmen" Joe Cocker/Leon Russel tour Camcos?,
Also what was the color &sizes of Jim Keltner's Camcos used during same tour?,
I assumed&thought they were BDP Ludwigs?.
Was Jim Gordons&Jim Keltners Camco kits Chanute,Oaklawn, Or LA series?.
Keltner's kit wasn't Camco,... (Ludwig BDP ?)
The one from Jim Gordon must be Oaklawn 22", 16", 13", 12".
He used that kit over and over again. The earlier footages show the kit with the original Camco tom mount. (Johnny Cash show) On the later clips there's a Ludwig mount installed.Maybe he switched drums or, he got fed up with the Camco mount,... who knows,...
I read a couple of times that JG played a 24" bass drum but that's not correct.
All pictures and Youtube clips show 8 lugs. 24" Camco bass drums are rare and should have 10 lugs on each side.
24" should have 10 per side, but not all of them do. I own a factory Oaklawn 24" with 8 lugs per side, no rerings. Could have been a Monday or Friday when it was produced, who knows... all lugs are perfectly installed and the drum sounds fantastic.
