This is was originally an incomplete Beverley Blue Badge shell set (22, 12, 13), that I bought cheaply without a snare. It was wrapped in black. I bought a seperate matching floor-tom that was wrapped in grey-ripple (the wrap was in a bad shape). I decided to remove all wrap and use the shells for one of my special paint experiments.
I was inspired by pictures of early trap-kits I saw on the internet (see pictures).
Though the set had the original beech bass-drum hoops (with space for inlay), I made oak ones (without space for inlay) and stained them dark brown/red, just because it suited my eyes better.
I had a left-over 14 x 10 marching snare shell (Premier, 3 ply birch) lying around that I converted into a matching 14 x 5 snaredrum for this set. I wasn't patient enough to wait for the lucky day coming across Beverley snare lugs, so I simply took what I had.
Kit and snare sound absolutely great.
