The problem is that the set screw has a hole tapped into the other end for the screws that hold the clamp on, not something you can pick up at Ace Hardware.http://static.music123.com/derivates/18/001/229/528/DV016_Jpg_Large_446346_front.jpg

Looks like torque head screws there, not allen.

Have a Gibraltar lift on both ends of my 18" drum - takes pressure off the extended spurs that way. Put a couple of pieces of rubber under the clamps to keep from marring the hoop. They have been on the drum for over a year, and only needed to retighten once myself.

That's right. I forgot about the attached pads.

I used pliers I think- I don't recall a problem with mine...

If I needed new ones I'd just make them.

A bit late but here's a photo of my 18 on the Gibraltar rider with customized beater. Note the weight which gives the feel of the longer beater.

Works better than my skill set!
