Even if the only purpose of the one drum set in your possession is to look at it and remember playing it, keep it. If you are desperate for the money you can get by selling the drums, that might change my opinion. But, otherwise, those drums are part of your being. Keep them!

Tell her you're passing it down to your grandson or daughter. If you have no grandchildren, tell her how they will increase in value and when you're gone, (Many years from now), she can sell them for a hefty price. If she doesn't buy that, you may be screwed.Violin

I say no, they are your passion and a great hobby,even if not played much. I would say that this should be your decision. Get her some flowers

I have had relatives and friends in the Nursing Home... they have pictures of things that meant a lot in their lives- but many have said- if they could just see and touch those items again.... please don't sell if it is important to you.... sure - they are 'just things'.... but memories fade- actual reminders of times past mean a lot!

Even if it's only once in a blue moon, then I'd hang on to them***.

If drums have passed you by, and I mean really passed you by, then what's the harm in moving on to something else.

*** Also, as we age, drums can be a good tool to keep the mind/body active and engaged. Drums are a great way to challenge ones self to learn new things... like go thorough some books and play stuff you never would otherwise. I'm going through Joel Rothman's "Complete Rock Drummer" and there is so much content that I would have never played had it not been for all the permutation exercises. I also keep a journal and set goals/review accomplishments.

Are the drums harming anything? Are they occupying space that would be better used? I say there’s no harm in keeping them. You don’t play anymore but you’re on this site all of the time? Drums are clearly still a big part of your life. You don’t have to feed ‘em, water’em, walk ‘em. Leave ‘em be!

Tell her "I have nothing invested ($ wise) in this particular set. It will be "the last one I sell" and then say "What time is dinner."

Men see beauty in everything from drums to cars to guns to guitars to motorcycles to trains to planes etc etc. Women will never get it. They think differently and that's ok, it's supposed to be that way. So don't expect them to get it. Don't try to convince them or try and make them understand. Just say no, I'll be keeping these, thank you!

What wise people we have on our forum! I agree with all of them! Sometimes I feel that my kit is more important to me than some people! I'm not a young kid but I refuse to ever part with it! In the past, I've parted with two previous wives but NOT my drums!!!
