Sonormuseum says that those were 6-ply beech drums, just before they switched to 9-ply Phonics.

Six or nine ply Beechwood. Add don`t say, and also which kind of snare they send you.
My guess would be bought by a school. When you get them up and play`n, let us know how they sound.

it sounds pretty cool.. singing.. with coated ambassador heads on top..
it doesn't seem beech.. it's like mahogany plies with last maple as an inner layer.. it seems.. I'm not sure.. I'll come up with pics again...
