I just picked this up locally for a small price. 22/13/16/14sn. Interestingly the inner ply on all the drums is not lauan and the hoops are like non I've seen before.

The inner ply on the bass drum and FT have been a bit damp but it's not too bad and the wrap is in good shape. The mufflers on the toms look like Rogers but I assume they are a copy and they are missing the knobs.

It's a cool kit and it'll clean up nicely. Now to make some space.

The insides of those drums look like birch pearl shells I've seen before. Nice snag!

Yes birch inside shell's..The badge would date the drums from the late 60's with the shells they have..A side note i have a Star made late 60's C.O.S. snare that has the same copy of the Rogers muffler.I have never seen a Pearl set with these copys on them do you think that the mufflers were added at one time? I have knob's for the mufflers if you need them they are the same shape as the one on the strainer......Mikey

Thanks Mike. The mufflers look factory fitted but I'll be able to tell when I start dismantling the kit.

What about the hoops? They curve over inwards instead of outwards like a normal triple flange hoop.

Andrew, The rims are copy's of Slingerland's S/S rims.Pearl got away with the copys for alittle time before Bud Slingerland went after Pearl on copying the S/L rims....Mikey

Thanks Mikey, that makes sense now.

I have located one of the muffler knobs - I was looking at the photos from the sale and noticed one was resting inside the BD cymbal mount. It fell out while loading into the car but the seller found it. I found a knob amongst my parts that will work for the other tom.
