Those are a really nice color!

Is that snare stand original to this kit/era? I like the 'aero' design of it. It looks pretty sturdy too...

thanks guys, it is coming up nicely.

Jim, the snare stand is a Premier Lokfast that i was given. It is a fantastic stand and beautifully engineered. I also have a cymbal stand and 2x HH stands. Quality vintage hardware.

I just picked up the Whitehalls with the same wrap. The kick will be completed this week and I just did the 12" and 16" floor tom. It seems the floor tom was an afterthought and added to the kit when the badge changed and was not a club date floor tom. These guys were filthy and had ripped heads when I got them. They sound great tuned up and my next kit waiting in the garage is a blue marine pearl Majestic kit.

Nice one Charlie. It's certainly a striking wrap color. My kick should be finished this week too. They might be finished at the same time. My next project is also waiting - Aquamarine Shimmer Premier.

[QUOTE=Fayray;215500]none taken John. If only we had Dawn in this part of the world. It sounds like some miracle stuff. Oddly, all the local dishwashing detergents I've tried here seem to only be strong enough to remove food scraps and grease and not rust. This is a shame as my elbows are running dangerously low on grease.

The hoops had the dull look before I started on them and I have not used steel wool. On the really badly rusted sections I've used aluminium foil and polish (that, in my experience, leaves no scratching) and just metal polish on the rest. The rust on the FT hoops is especially epic. I've used white vinegar on the T-rods, washers, screws etc and it has worked great.

I'm working on a Whitehall kit with the same finish and I cleaned the exterior shells with Armour All before using the car wax. It did a great job of cleaning. The chrome and metal parts, I used Turtle Wax Chrome Cleaner and can be found at any Wal-mart. Amazing stuff that does not scratch and helps remove the rust!

Great looking kit and I'm done with the 12" and 16" and moving onto the 20" kick before finishing. Best of luck!
