I promise the other guys here that I will try to buy some kind of soft metal / alu rubber/polish, and first do my very best, to try keep them original.

But if it does not work, that copper will be removed, and rewrap them with something else. Of course, if I have to recover them, I will try to find some wrap that Slingerland was used at the early 70:s.

But at the moment, they have to stay a while as they are, I am in the middle of restoring my Psychedelic Red Ludwig.

I have been reading about a techique called brush plating that allows metals to be painted on to each other... copper, gold, etc.. long list.

"Brush Electroplating is an electroplating process which allows various metals to be plated using a hand held tool rather than immersing the part to be plated in a tank of chemicals."

Here is a company in Sweden that does this kind of work.... probably not practical... but interesting none the less. Mind Blowi

I am wonder about that " Young Chemistry Starting Kit..."

But I would like first to hearf from someone who use it , if it could be possible to applay that on my kit. And second, if I try to import that to Sweden, probbably sosme should think I am trying to built a bomb or something like that.

So today I was starting to work with my Slingerland Copper.

I remove lugs, to clean it up, and what happend... copper plate, just fall off?!?!?

I have been read a lot off thread about how difficult it´s to remove that copper from the wood, but this one it was not problem at all with. Great!!!

Now I am looking to give someone that can those sheet replate and polish it.
