A sad day for New England musicians

Loading...

One of the bigger regional music store chains, Daddy's Junky Music, shut its doors for good at 8pm tonite. No reason was given, and their website just shows this: http://www.daddys.com

I guess they just couldn't compete with the internet, ebay and guitar center anymore....

They did have internet sales.

In-store service was the problem, too many guitarists working the floor or counter, playing with their laptops and stroking their own axes, not looking up or greeting people who come into the store. Customers having to stand at the register, waiting to ask a question or pay for something, the guitarist too busy talking to his GF or a collection agency about his delinquent payments on his POS car, customers walk out.

I hate to see any small business close its doors, but that list will do it!

Too many great drums to list here!

What a great article. The man has character and ethics. Very admirable. Sorry to see this one go out.

Guitar center has no customer service, no product knowledge, and cheap crap for sale. Guitar Center is like the Evil Empire in Star Wars.....

Oh I dunno 'bout that....maybe where you live?

Hmmmmmm....Looks like our guy complaining about mega merchants has left, and took his negative posts with him. Or was he asked to leave? .

Who knows what happened there...

I have to say GC and MF were good for dealing with a local formerly "big" store. Rather than having to "hope" your salesperson was going to "give" you a good deal (like in the past), the local place NOW matches prices with anyone.

I use both GC and the local stores equally; however, with GC stopping lay away with used gear, I have a feeling that the local stores will get more of my used trade. And as long as my locals will honour or beat GC and MF, I will use them for anything that they can get me. If I have cash in hand and the local doesn't have to order in what I want, I will pay the premium for not having to wait for my item.

Yeah- I'm THAT guy!!!
