Am I that color blind!! If they are truly Black/Brass, they would be from about 1981-86. There are no Black/Brass badges with that design in the 70's. Can you post a more clear picture of the badge?

And the serials are way off for them to be from the eighties as well...

Your badges are Black/Silver, not Black/Brass. The SN's should date the kit to about 1973-74. The Super Setomatic didn't come out until around 1978. "Normal" double-tom Setomatic mounts were usually mounted in the middle of the bass drum, but your original holes appear to be at the back, is that correct? The Super Setomatic bass drum plate was mounted towards the front. Hope this helps.

My 1977 24" x 14" came with a "Super" Setomatic mounted dead centre, maybe? thats the reason I took it back after a week for a swapover to the standard Setomatic post. Also same badges as my kit so I reckon 73-74 for sure.

Hi -If you are serious about putting the set-o-matic back, ...However someone else has already drilled the holes for the Rogers mount and you would have to repair /patch them.Just something to think about. And the Rogers mounts are much more adjustable than the set-o-matic.

I spent a few hours last night adjusting the Rodgers tom mounts. Those 10" deep toms are pretty high on top of a 22" BD, but you're right about adjustability. I got them where I want them. I can't see how I could accomplish that with the short arms of the set o matic.

I also made some thin (1/4") wood strips for the inside of the BD to bolt thru into the Rodgers base plate. That spreads out the load so they are not rocking anymore. Thanks for your help.

Thank you all for your help.

I spent last week taking them apart, cleaned all the hardware and oiled the shells. On the weekend I put them back together and have been tuning and adjusting the tom hardware.

The last owner took off the original Set O Matic, and installed a Rodgers Memrilock which is kind of beat up, but has great adjustment. I'm sure they'd look better with the original hardware.

They have these oil filled heads, awful. I need to get some new ones.

The drums are big: 22x14 BD, 13x10 & 14x10 toms, 16x16 & 18x16(!) floor toms. Loud too.

3 ply shells: maple poplar maple, maple reinforcement rings, 4 spur mounts for the bass drum though I only have 3, no wing nuts, the screw holes are stripped out, and no spurs.

I'm using C clamps with some shims on the BD rim.

I've found two mounts on ebay that I'm gonna try to snag.

I've got to find some spurs, or maybe some 3/8" rod and make them myself.
