Great score. It's interesting how the Butcher Block wrap and the other Formica-type faux wood wraps are now gaining in popularity after being out of favor for many years. For $500, I would have jumped at the opportunity. Call me crazy if you wish. I would spiff up the Dynasonic, make sure it was working properly. Then, I would sell it to offset the purchase price of the rest of the drum set. I have never liked all of the fussiness of dealing with a Dynasonic snare drum. I say this as a drummer who loves Rogers drums. My first professional gigging set was ordered at a local music store in 1961 after choosing all of the components from the catalog. In later life, I was a manufacturer's rep for nearly thirty years with the same company. I hired in to Fender-Rogers-Rhodes for the last five years before CBS--not Fender--sold off Rogers and Rhodes. I sold hundreds of Dynasonics to dealers who had customers lining up to buy them. As I already said, those drums are just too fussy for me. I prefer Vintage Holiday and Powertone snare drums. I'll even take a nice Luxor over a Dynasonic.

Finally got around to shining these up, although they were pretty clean when I got them. My first experience with the Swiv-O-Matic and I couldn’t get it to my liking, so I put a Rims mount on the 12” (I won’t be using the 13” for now). I do have a question on the snare: on both the throw and butt side there are extra holes above and below (see pics). Is this normal? The head/rim cover them so I’m not sure why they are there.

Those holes are where they hang them from when dipping in the plating process.
