I confess when it come to Ringo, for me it's a case of the Emperors new clothes. I really don't get it. Maybe it's being a child growing up in Britain in the 60s or something. While the Beatles undoubtedly shaped the sound of music, I'm not sure that Ringo (as a drummer) was that influential. I can think of others such as Brian Bennet and Charlie Watts who were far superior.

Now, now, don't starting WW III here....we're all in agreement that whatever you think of Ringo's playing he influenced millions to play and/or buy drums in one way or another.... :)

Regardless of what you think of Ringo's playing (and I for one think he is vastly under-rated), those Ludwigs sound incredible. Some of my all time favorite bass and snare drum tones come off of the Revolver album. Now, Is that snare tone worth 30K$...ha, well I guess that depends on your salary 😀

I get it but now that I have one that I had to piece together and wrap (green sparkle), it doesn't even sound that great too my ears. My 'cruddy' metal shell Rogers Super 10 sounds way better :D

I remember once finding a 1967 OBP jazzfest at the Conn drum show back in the late 90's and the seller was asking $800.00. I remember thinking that was a LOT of money for a snare drum! Lol... Should have grabbed it.

I actually have an early 60's jazzfest identical to Ringo's that was re-wrapped in a more current oyster black version. I have had it 10-15 years now and I have no idea what it took to make but it looks pretty cool and sounds fantastic! I like to hope in my mind that this jazzfest was some trashed color with extra holes that someone completely re-did to make the current drum. I think I paid around 300 bucks for it. That's a few zeros less than $30.000.00 but I'll take it!
