Hi Lynn, will do. They also have a scratch remover. I guess these would compare to the Novus products. Luthiers like them because there's no silicone in them. If a guitar finish touch up is ever needed silicone based cleaners can make it difficult.

Gotcha! I'm still quite limited in my experience with cleaning drums, what makes silicone based cleaners a bad choice?

For drums I don't think it's a problem. But refinish work on guitars silicone can cause some problems doing touchup paint work. My son had a extra bottle of it there and said it take it and give it a try. 12 oz bottle will last a long time. :)

I may have to give it a shot.

By the way, I believe I'll have my T-rods from vintagedrumbug some time week after next, if you still need the torpedoes with the bells.

Just a quick update.........The drums are together and finished. I'll get some pics up asap I promise. I thought I had ordered G2 heads but EC2 heads came instead. I could have exchanged them but got a great discount (from my sons dealer discount) so I kept them. They sound ok and they'll do fine for now. But I may change them down the road. I just wanted to thank all the VDF forum members for all the great tips and advice along the way. And a big thanks to Alex FC for the shells and hardware, Vinny VDB, Bill H and Jerry DJ for the extra parts and hardware needed to finish them. And Gary BBK for the snare that's on the way. Also very special thank you to John Purdie Shuffle for answering all my silly questions! Without you all this kit would have not been possible and for that I'm very very grateful. Many thanks everyone! Glenn.

Here's a couple bad cell phone pictures. My wife bought a new camera and I'll take some better ones once she get's it going. That said I think these came out pretty good. You'll see some mismatched hardware as I still need a few things to get them back 100%. But for now it'll do so I can play them. And man they sound so good!! It's been a long time since I've heard drums sing like these do. Again many thanks to the forum for everything. Hope I can return the favors someday.

Just to add, I really love the wrap color on these. They all match better than the pics show but have a nice mellow look to them. I was lucky the only extra holes were in the floor tom for some old Grestch leg mounts. Those still need to be filled and covered. The original tom and bass mounts were in tact. I was really looking for a WMP kit but these have really grown on me. They are still a work in progress till I get the needed correct hardware.

Hey Glenn,

Those do look good!

Just thinking out-loud... you wouldn't be interested in making that a double-bass set, would you? I have a 14x22 BD, clear interior in pretty good shape. It's missing its spurs (brackets are present); and the hoops, claws, and Ts are NOT original. It has been drilled for a Rogers Swiv-o-matic tom mount, so there are those extra holes.

BUT, the wrap is good and tight and aged just about like yours are.

I picked it up a little over a year ago as an orphan and had intended to use it in a set. But picked up another one that needs rewrapped to go with those, so this one's just been setting ever since...

Just a thought...

Bill
