60's Slingerland green satan

hey guys, its been a while sence i have last wrote.

i did buy the kit that was in the pictures, i paid a little more than i wanted to, but, i am in love. i am almost done with kit. i still need bass heads and i need one 20" bass hoop. but over all i am happy with my purchase. i bought the kit for a little over 300 and i spent a little over 300 for the wrap, the kit looks great, and the snare was a single ply. i love it.

i am not sure what it is worth, but i really dont care. . .well, i do a little, but, like i said over all i am happy with kit.

here is a pic of my boy trying to be like daddy. The Band

let me know what you guys think.

Looking pretty nice! What year is stamped in the shells? According to Vintage Drum Guide, the badge on your drums was used from '56 - '59, but Slingerland started using torpedo Ts in early to mid '58 after they discontinued and ran out of the "bowtie" Ts (as I've heard them called). See the attached picture of my bass drum with the torpedoes, it is stamped AUG 1958. So, I'm guessing yours are '56 to early '58.

My guess is your snare is worth about what you paid for the kit, maybe more, considering it's been re-wrapped (as you know this is a negative, but it was already a re-wrap when you got it) and if it has no extra holes and all other parts are correct. I think you did well purchasing this kit.

By the way, I'm looking for a knob and handle for my clam shell butt and strainer, if you know someone that has them.

I like the wrap also, I was trying to get close to vintage looking. There are no dates on the shells, they are 3 ply shells, except for single ply snare. I have a link to a guy who has the lever for the clam shell, but I don't know about the knob.

I was trying to fix my bass hoop but that broke, I am hopping I can find one and get to playing this kit soon

thanks a lot james, i cant wait to hear them. i have the FT and Tom set up and they sound good. i have the snare together but i still need the lever and snare wires, along with new heads.

i broke the bass hoop today, while trying to fix it. i think it is going to have to be trashed. Soap Box

Great looking kid, Larry. The drums came out amazing! Can't wait to see them all done and hear your sound review.
