I saw he originally had them listed for $130,000. And dropped them to $850. Ooooookay. It could've been an error in listing but I saw an MIJ with an asking price of $2,000 recently so nothing surprises me anymore. I keep hearing that the toms are usually the drums that are pre-international. Are there sets with bass drums that are as well if you go back to the mid-60s? Just want to know what to look out for and what I'm getting into as far as buying replacement heads.

$130,000? I think you meant $1300? If you're talking about the red marine pearl set on Reverb, he will not budge one iota from the $779.99 price, claiming he's selling them on consignment and that's what the owner wants. They disappeared for a short while around the holidays, but are back up again. The dealer worked it out that shipping from Canada was only $140 or so, which as fair. If only he had dropped the price $100, I would have taken them. Oh well. You can't win 'em all.

Yep, as JDA said, the red sparkle was listed at 130K as a joke I'm assuming. This one is now at $850. Assuming this is the same set but you noted Canada and this is in the US.

I'm a sucker for red sparkle kits, and that kit looks immaculate. The price isn't crazy either, and the seller is open to offers, but the shipping is to high, at least for me.

I think the Blue set Jay M is looking at is still up there. Can make that one work too.

another (there's like 5 metric Prem sets on reverb) is this Black set -big money.

There's (also) some very late last era of true Premier- Trilok cymbal (and snare) stands on reverb too)

always wanted to get my hands on one of those; never saw one in person..

That red marine set is so tempting, but I don't want to spend $920 on them with shipping. After all this the the seller still won't budge on pricing.

I went and looked at the blue pearl set. It's a cool beater at a great price, seller is a very nice guy, but I will probably pass on it. It was missing the tone controls, a rod and claw for bass drum, was pretty rough cosmetically (wrap was pretty shot and taped up) but edges were good, no tom arm. Ultimately it comes down to me selling my MIJ to make room for it and the MIJ is perfectly fine, I just wanted a better built kit. To resell it would be hard and take a lot of time if something more desirable came along, plus the issue of the heads. I'll wait it out for another set.

My only kit is an MIJ as well, and I would also have to sell mine to make room for something "better". Being around this forum is problematic, because it's easy to get caught up in wanting something better.

But I kind of figured I would work on this kit a bit since it's in mint condition, so I played with drumheads first, both batter and res till I got the sound I wanted, I added a second floor tom that matches the kit, then replaced the tension rods, and finally changed the thin triple edge flanges for heavier and thicker stick savers, and after all that, I think I have a great sounding kit. The hoops actually make the kit feel more solid when hitting, if that makes sense. I may MinWax the shell interiors this spring as well.

So for now, I'm good, although, I get it, it's still tough not to want move up. Just my 2 cents anyway.:)

I want that New Sound set so bad but having so many sets myself I cannot justify spending 2 K to the wife...
