2 Drummer Bands.. youre favorites Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Although I have not had the opportunity to do it myself, I have always enjoyed stage bands with two regular drummers. Doobies, 10CC, etc. etc. I like to see how they share the fills etc and interact with each other.. also how the various kits blend..

I think currently these guys do quite a good job of it.. and if you look around at their other videos they are always mixing and matching their kits.. makes for even more interest. They were in OZ last month and both of my sons saw them live and were most impressed..

So who are your favourite 2 drummer bands.. past or present??

Cheers

There was always only one for me... The Allman Bros.

I nicknamed my son James, 'Jaimo' because of, Jai Johanny Johanson (Jaimo) one of my all time favorite jam-drummers.

John

Added later:

Damn! Forgot to mention Butch Trucks!

Too many great drums to list here!

Ted Nugent fronted a group with 2 drummers who played identical parts, identical sets and wore identical "outfits". They sucked!

How about James Brown's mulitiple drummer bands? And The Dead?

Butch and Jamo from the ABB is tops on mine too. They just gel together like not many others I've ever seen.

I saw Charlie Daniels a few times back in the 70's. The last time was the Million Mile Refections tour with Fred Edwards and James Marshall on drums. Great show and the chubby guy on fiddle was pretty good too. Laughing H

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Got to agree with Purdie, Allmans rock!! Doobies would be my safety.

I played in an Allman cover band with 2 drummers and a percussionist and there were times we almost killed each other. The band started as a southern rock band that covered a lot of ABB with a keyboard player who looked and sounded like Greg. We always got the comments that we should do an ABB cover band.

We found this really cool Jamaican dude to work with, he had a bit of a Jazz background, he was a low key player and loved ABB. We had some percussion rehearsals with the bass player and the 3 of us and worked out some specific parts. It was great until the first Gig. He got really waisted and his inner Keith Moon came out - gone was the jazz feel, he overplayed, took every fill, drove every song into warp drive. We went through 4 more drummers before we found someone we could work with, it ended up being our percussionist who called his brother to take his spot on percussion.

Drummers are used to being the only drummer and we don't like to share and it takes a lot of that and coordination to make 2 drummers work! so I have a lot of respect for all those 2 drummer teams.
