A beautiful XP-8 kit! I love the "forest of cymbals", too! As for your 20+ yr rusty chops, I sometimes feel the same way! I spend more time refurbishing drums than playing, so I really get that "rusty" feeling. However, one only needs a very cool set of drums, like yours, to bring inspiration to our "old" chops. Play away!

Been listening to Peart's Burning for Buddy CDs again - inspiring and depressing at the same time. One O'Clock Jump - Track 11, Vol 2 is just plain sick, how versatile can a human be? Maybe if I read Atlas Shrugged, SOMEthing will rub off???

I always wanted the sunburst kit when I was younger.I had a XP8 in the cherry wood finish but lost it when I left it with friends for a while. Man I wish I never did that.I remember how heavy those boom arms were as well.Lovely kit dude.

Many Thanks! I came SO, SO close to ordering the California Wine when I bought the kit, that maroon stain (or wrap? Hard to tell) was totally gorgeous! Never used the counter-weights, just put 'em on to document the kit before I tore it apart... As you say - "Too Heavy" - and I never had anything on the stands that needed the weights.
