Love the green woofer! Adds mojo.. The lugs on the Pearl set look earlier than mid-70s but I'm sure someone here will scour a catalog and come up with a definitive answer.

Ha, thanks - just there to add some thump during a studio session. It's actually a 60's *Pearl* that our producer found in the trash!

These early 70s kits typically run in the 150-250 range, however it appears there is a Ludwig Supraphonic lurking at the snare station so that could drive the price up a couple of bones, if the seller knows what he has. If they are Presidents, by the lugs they appear to be, they could go as high as 350, if they are fiberglass or wood/fiberglass shells, maybe even a little more, depending on your location. Some areas of the country have much stronger vintage MIJ markets than others, and that tends to drive the selling price more than anything else. In our area for instance, they are hard to find, but sell relatively cheaply, whereas in the Seattle and Portland areas the MIJ enjoy a much stronger following, and hence garner higher selling prices.

BTW, the green bass in front of your kit is a Peal from the late 70s-early 80s, a low end model judging by the lugs and twin tom mount. The blue kit you are looking at is a winner and likely a much better quality buy than the junk pile rescue.

Great looking pearls,if they are fiberglass they will be plenty loud,a pic from the front would be helpful,it looks the there is a cymbal mount on the kick,which is unusual for a double mounted tom set up,interesting to see if it has been modified.

I only have a few pictures of these available, here's another...He says they are wood, and not fiberglass, and insists that they were purchased new in 1976 (but may have been NOS, hard to say). That looks like a superphonic to me as well, and Zildjian brass, which obviously sweetens the deal. I'm going to make an offer today, I'll let you all know how it goes.

Cool, but these look to have a rail mount system, and eams is correct, looks to have the cymbal mount and as such, having the double set up would mean someone, at some point, modified the kit. He may well have bought them new in 76, but the rail mount and lugs are from the early 70s and also, as eams points out, would mean a NOS kit. Possibly a showroom display model, but if the bass has been modified from the tom post to rail, then the value will have to reflect un-wanted mods. This is typical of many kits from "our" youth, the 70s saw lots of drill happy teens....

Seems to me, from the pix, he is hiding the fact it has been modified.
