A beautiful early 1968 3ply Ludwig 20/12/14 Downbeat kit in original thermogloss finish.... shown here before...
But now with matching 6-lug Pioneer snare drum and matching Canister throne. This keystone kit has all unpainted interiors with clubdate spurs. No extra hole or mods.

From what I've read... "Thermogloss" was a Ludwig trade name for the heated process they used to apply the clear coat on natural maple finish shells...
Not many of these 1960s keystone kits were done in this finish ... and if so the exterior would easily get dings and marks so a lot of these kits "probably" got recovered over time.

Beautiful setup! Love 'em. Surprised to see the center badge placement on the floor tom. Ludwig moved it from center to upper sometime in '65. Interesting!

I have a '67 Downbeat kit in red sparkle with the matching Downbeat snare and gull-wing fold-out spurs. I also have a VERY-close badge number Jazzette bass drum in red sparkle, too! So, essentially, I could have a Jazzette OR a Downbeat -depending on the bass drum I choose...oh...*cough* and I'd have to switch the Downbeat snare out for a Supra if I wanted to represent the Jazzette configuration *cough*....oh...*cough cough* and the fact that, technically, the Jazzette from '67 wasn't supposed to be a wrapped-finish kit....but...I guess Ludwig could do whatever the f--- they wanted to do back then! Gee, I miss the old America, sometimes! ;)
