1965 Rogers Buddy Rich Celebrity's/WMP

Tommyp! What can I say? They are absolutely beautiful...as are all your drums! Next, thanks so much for keeping me awake at work! I'm helping out by doing some data entry. It's incredibly boring and I was falling asleep. Started daydreaming about drums and headed over to VDF where I spotted your kit. Woke me right up!!

I guess the only sad part is that I'm reminded of my Rogers kit I sold. I obtained it as Londoner, wrapped in original Pink Strata. The wrap was very bad, split and cracked all over, and I had the shells stripped down to the bare maple and were wrap ready. I also left out the 9x13, covered up the original tom bracket hole (properly of course!) and installed the proper bracket to make the kit a Headliner. I could never decide on what color to wrap and eventually sold the kit. I'm pretty sure I posted it here some time ago. In looking at your beautiful kit, I should have wrapped mine in antique WMP. It would have been a gorgeous kit! I always loved seeing the Headliner in the Rogers catalog in WMP with the COB Powertone!

Thanks for letting me vent my sad tale...and keep up the great work, Tommyp!!

idrumforfun!... ( Hey Mark! ) ...

I certainly DO remember your Rogers "BR Headliner" set! They were indeed beauties, especially after the work you put in on them. Hopefully this might make you feel a tad better: Antique White Pearl DIDN'T exisit when you re-did your drums! You would have had to wrap them in the then available WMP and suffered the same fate as most ALL the sets that were wrapped with it back then... shrinking... seam seperation... cracking... SIGH. No longer the case today fortunately. I want to mention again that my Celebrity's were originally WMP, so I had zero problem with doing a rewrap.. course this is the 2nd time around as the 1st rewrap suffered it's typical fate. You know, I have an ORIGINAL 1966 Rogers Buddy Rich Headliner in WMP that is available. I am just the 2nd owner and have had them for a while now. Interesting story behind those too. I gigged them for years until I found the Buddy Rich Celebrity set that you see here, and I have been gigging these for almost 8 years now! Let me know should you have any interest. THANKS for checking in and for the nice words!

Again THANK YOU to all the members that have enjoyed these drums and stopped by to comment. It is greatly appreciated!

Hey Tommyp!

Thanks for the kind words. Yes...I do feel better knowing that the Antique WMP was not available when I had my Headliner!

Thanks Tommy, I was trying to decide on Precisions WMP vs thier Antique white pearl for a snare to match my WMP Londoner. I believe the chip pattern is the same on either?

Bobby Cee!...

The "Antique WMP" is just about dead on to Rogers OEM WMP of old. The chip pattern and coloring is near perfect. As to whether or not the two of those you're considering have the same chip pattern, I'm not sure. BEST thing to do though is this: Have Precision send you a sample piece of each.. ( which they will do ! ) .. and make your determination based on that! It's really the only way to actually see the wrap. I'll attach a shot I grabbed from a recent gig. It's a nice pic in that you can really SEE the coloring/pattern of the "Antique" WMP on the '65 BR Celebrity's.
