1963 Sonor Project

Loading...

This past spring I found a 1963 Sonor set (minus the bass drum) at a rummage sale. I offered $30 and got it. She took alot of abuse over the years, still had the original heads on it (beat to hell). I only replaced 2 hoops on it and manged to luck out and find a matching 1964 bass drum on ebay! Here she is. The blue bass drum head is now off and I have a early 60's Sonor head on it. Not bad for $30!

Wow! I had that exact set back in high school. I grabbed a second one, and played it double bass & toms.....

Saw one a couple weeks ago on CL, and someone beat me to it. Great drums....

Excellent Job on that ol' German Kit.

Saw Drums like that Years ago in Storage of a Firefighter's Station. They were offered to me, but I never was into Sonor.

It probably is still there, in desperate Condition...

@Gary: There's a '60s Kit in Red Sparkle on *bay classifieds Germany:

It always amazes me how well these old drums clean up. If they would have looked they this when you bought them the seller would want a lot more than 30 bucks!

Excellent work! Congrats and enjoy!

Thank you!
