Ok - I'll be the one to say this.....we need some pics. If you have trouble posting them, just compress them beforehand and they will attach and load. If you have no other way to do so, just use Microsoft Office Picture Manager (typically included on any computer with Windows 7 or newer), compress to DOCUMENTS (option on the right hand side) and resave (I rename it with COMP in the name.
Also.....this was a stencil that was made both by Star and by Pearl. Perhaps some pics could help members here identify which you have and I am sure that you will learn much about your kit once we get off the ground with pics.

As well and in addition (we wanna see pics) you can have a look at Ralf´s website www.star-drums.de there you will find what you need to identify your kit.
You might use the Search-buttom here as well, to get more infos on these ones.
Bolero = Made by Pearl,
Bollero = Made by Star.

Thanks for your replys,info & links.My Bolleros are long gone but was curious about some old pics i had.They were my first real set of drums and i`ve only got one pic that will load here and it`s not much to go on.The young boy is me in 1964/65 and if i can download 2 more pics i will. Are these 'Blue Marine Pearl' finish?
Wayne
Great pic, Wayne. One can really see, how proud you were to play these drums!
Have you checked out my Star-website?
If your pic is dated indeed 64/65, it would be a huge time adjustment for me, as I'd normally say that Bollero's weren't available that early.
Can you recall whether the Bollero-badge from your drums was identical with the one on my website?
Conc. the wrap: Star catalogues from that time are vague, stating only that a 'Choice of Pearl finishes' was available for their drums ...
The Star 'Blue Marine Pearl' seemed to be much darker than your ice-blue, which also doesn't look like a WMP ... being somehow in between ...
Ralf
Interesting - yes, confirmation on the date of the pic would be helpful. You get this kit brand new? What's the story with the gold sparkle hoops???

Hi Ralf, and thanks for your quick reponse.I was very happy to have this kit as it was a big step up from the little toy set i had in 1964(yr. of The Beatles).I have a pic of me on the toy set and 1964 is in pen on that pic and this set was bought new following that, so 1965 i`d say and no latter than 66for sure.Originally i said 1963 Bolleros and was allowing some factory shelf time into the mix(maybe abit too much time there).
I checked out your Star web-site( fantastic!) and didn`t see my badge on there.It`s like the second badge(black oval) but with Bollero on it with the (o) matching up with the grommet hole.
Interesting about the wrap color, as the ice-blue is in between the two colors you`d mentioned and the orange sparkle hoop inlays are certainly different.I was born in 1950 and in the pic i sent you i`d say i`m barely 15 if even that old.Hope this vague info will be be of any help to you and if i can get two more pics to load i`ll send them to you as you can see the badges much better.Many thanks again Ralf...

Hi DaddyNowhere-sent a 'quote' reply to Ralf to explain my opinion of dates if you want to check that and yes my folks bought me this set new i`d say in early 65`.I was born in 1950 and to me, i don`t look any older than 14-15 at most in that pic-not much to go on here i know.
The gold sparkle hoop inlays were more of an orange color,wish i could add more pics.Thanks...
Wayne
I believe he (and we) were wondering why there were gold sparkle hoops on there. Were they wood and you were taught that wood sounds better so you made the switch - or did something happen to the orginal ones (which were probably metal right?) or what is the story......??
BTW - VERY cool kit you had there!
