Loading...

Just finished the resto work on this lovely WFL CLassic snare. 3-ply Mahogany-Poplar-Mahogany, Classic strainer, COB hoops, WMP. Jump For Joy sounds warm and fat like an early Jazz Fest should. Date stamped Oct. 1957

Cheers!

Kellyj!...

Nice job... and a beautiful specimen!! I have a near mint 1955 WFL Buddy Rich Super Classic in the BR snare drum collection. I'll attach a couple for you to view. The main thing with the Buddy model is that it should have the P88 butt in addition to the P87 Classic strainer, which your drum does of course have. I'll attach a pic of the P88 butt for you to see too. The squiggly lines on the P88 butt is an anomaly and not really in the chrome. Enjoy!!

Mr Mania!...

Then you have the P32 butt on your drum, and an awful lot of them were built with the P87 Classic strainer, and the P32 butt. It's just a "technicality" truth be told.. because ..

Ludwig cataloged the drum as the Buddy Rich Model Super Classic, but to be the actual model that Buddy played, the drum has to have fully extended wires with the P87 Classic strainer and the P88 extended butt. So!... is the drum STILL a Buddy Rich Model Super Classic if it has the P32 butt? Well yes... and no. It just means that everything else on the drum is identical to Buddy's, but his personal model utilized the fully extended wires and the P88 butt. I'll attach a pic of the P88.

Tommy,

Thanks for the clarification. Could you also post a pic of the extended wires or just a shot of the underside of the drum?

Many thanks!

Thanks Tommy and Vintagemore!

Those look like Puresound replica snares?

I was wondering too if you gave the Mahogany any kind of oil treatment or whitened somehow the WMP wrap? Help2

Thanks again!
