Hey Guys,
A guy came in my Upholstery shop today with a old Gretsch snare drum. He found it in a old barn up on a shelf. He heard that I was a collector and wanted to sell it to me. He didnt have a price in mind and asked what I'd give for it. I pointed out all the cracks in the wrap, and pitting on the hardware as well as it was in just plain nasty condition. I explained to him I really wasn't looking to buy anything anymore since I have way too many drums as it is. He said "Make me an offer" I said $25. He took the offer, I paid him and he left me the snare. It has a older strainer and the butt plate looks like another strainer but has no throw off. The muffler is rather large. Does anyone know what this is exactly? Thanks, I know someone knows all about this.

I liked the Cadillac Green Gretsch drum from not too long ago. It`s not wrap but an auto paint shop could probably get it.

That's a Gretsch "Name Band" model. Gretsch usually don't have re-rings, they came up with the modern staggered seam shell design that didn't need them to keep the drum round. The throw off is a Micro Sensitive and the adjustable tension on the butt side is correct.
I wouldn't re-wrap it unless absolutely necessary. If necessary use Jammin' Sam's sky blue pearl which is close to the original color this drum was. But it's probably worth more as is than it would be re-wrapped. http://www.jamminsam.com/vintage-sky...-drums-page-2/ $25 was a heck of a steal. The badge on the drum is worth 3 times that by itself. Does the throw off work? If not it can be fixed.
