That's a nice drum. Clean it up and use it if you have the top hoop. My guess is you have at least $400 worth of drum if you have all the parts and the strainer works. Not enough issues with the wrap to do it over unless you are totally inclined to do so.
Old Gretsch Round Badge Snare Find
I'm not a Gretsch guy either, but $25 bucks for a snare that has $400 in parts after being cleaned up is a mega steal !
I do have the top hoop. I took it off to see the Silver painted interior

Just finished a restore on a similar Midnight Blue Pearl Gretsch snare. You got a great deal and it is worth cleaning up and playing! I would also not re-wrap unless it is missing large sections or is completely unstable.
The first picture is how I found it and the last picture is it all cleaned up and back together ready to play.
Mine was a mess when I got it

But boy was it worth it saving it once I tuned it up and played it.
You Boys are preachin' to the Choir. Ive restored way worse drums than this one. 2 of my restorations are in the top 10 most views in drum restorations and in the top 14 most replies all time of this forum. http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=11641 and http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=17593 I have so many snares it aint even funny. I'm just seeking information on this drum. I'm a ludwig Guy through and through. I know the Round badge alone is worth more than the drum. Jammin Sam's skyblue pearl is too blue for my taste. I have a 68 Luddy skyblue pearl kit. It is more grey that blue. If I restore this drum I will wrap it in something I dont have just for my collection. I may just clean it and sell it if the parts are worth so much.
