Another Premier "How old is my snare" thread.

It is 10 lug. I should have said that and/or posted more pics.

Congrats on a great find.

I have a late 60's wood (birch/beech) with Oyster finish Hi-fi and it sounds great. Nice thin 3-ply shell that is very sensitive. I have cast hoops on mine, so the sound is probably not as open as yours. I'd grab those 10-lug cast hoops, if you can.

The Premier catalogs list "Natural Wood" finish starting around 1973 and running up through 1977. If the badge grommet is original, then your drum's finish is original. I'm not good with dating Premier drums based on serial numbers, so does anyone have an idea of the time frame for S/N 24,190?

Seventies HiFis came with cast hoops - and 8 lugs, as the hoops are the same as on 2000-series snares.

Earlier HiFis - with the so-called "Beer-barrel" hoops from Super and Royal Aces had 10-lugs.
