Hey so I just came up with a hack for quick patching a chip in the drum wrap. My new Kents are black diamond pearl, and there was about a quarter sized chip in the wrap on the kick drum. So I found an image of black diamond pearl wrap on google photos, printed it onto an Avery shipping label, put clear packing tape over the label to protect the image and add gloss, and affixed it to the drum. Voila, instant patch for about 25 cents in material. Color match isn’t perfect but I can play with it. Has anyone else tried something like this?

Very cool idea! Took me a second to figure out where the patchwork was done :)
If you have a photo editing software (photoshop or gimp), you could change the contrast (and color balance) to make it darker...may blend even better. Either way, looks great!

I think cutting it into an angular, irregular shape would make it blend even better into the irregular diamond pattern or the wrap.
I tried something similar for a missing bass hoop inlay that was impossible to find. My Blue Ripple Rogers bass was missing the inlay, so a took a photo of the wrap and printed it on glossy photo paper. I then cut it into 1/2" wide strips and taped them together. Instant inlay. Naturally, I place all the seams under the claws.
Great hack. Anyone else try photos of wrap for repairs?

Awesome job, and what a great idea ! I once took loose pieces from behind a lug spot on my vintage pearl president gold grain pearl wrap, and used the pieces to fill in missing broken off wrap pieces on visible spots. The pieces were very small, but easily invisible.
