Its all in my cranium...no link to there.

That 22" Ajaha is pretty notable and could be a very cool cymbal too.

You guys have an amazing grasp on this stuff, but there are a lot of dummies like me that come here and read your posts... and a lot of them are scared to death to post something or register because they're afraid of saying something stupid. Cassidy

Thanks, Cassidy. I think this is something that needs to be kept in mind by all. There are no dumb questions. Thanks for taking the plunge by joining and participating! Burger Kin

The only dumb question is the one you're afraid to ask.

If any man lacketh in cymbal wisdom, then let him ask it of the forum...

and those who have knowledge will give of it freely...

and upbraideth not.

Drumaholic, the Ajaha is very sweet. Low voiced and loud, you have to control the wash a bit but it's damned nice.

Is it medium in your opinion, or thinner than medium?

And how is it that you managed to come by such a fine piece?

It has an ink stamp on the top, barely visible, that says Medium Ride. It's definitely medium.

I got the cymbal in 1982 when I was manager of a music store. The owner of the store asked me to get all the junk off the roofs of the lesson rooms and throw it in the dumpster. I climbed a ladder and was shocked to find oodles of drums and drum hardware accumulated over many years. I put it in a pile out back. Eventually I called him out there and said "are you sure you want to throw this all away?" He said yes. When I asked if I could keep what worked, he also said yes. Among the stuff I kept were two Ajaha cymbals. I have no idea why they were there and he didn't care to keep them.

I wish I'd kept it all. Another time he told me to throw away a box of pickups for guitars. At that time DiMarzio was selling replacement pickups hand over fist to guitarists that thought they could improve their sound. That box had dozens of Fender strat and telly pickups, original Gibson humbuckers and so on that our tech guy had tossed there when he put DiMarzio's in.

I wish I'd have kept that....

Wow, that's a great story. And what was the other Ajaha that you got?

It's another medium cymbal, it was cracked and I cut it to 17". But I never finished rounding it. Still don't know if it works to do that. I wouldn't do that now, but who knows what I was thinking in 1982.

The ink sig is nowhere near as clear as on the 22"

Can I get a link?Cassidy

Unfortunately an updated version of the timeline is not available on-line as far as I know. You can always post your questions here and we can help. Of course the definitive opinion will come from Drumaholic, but some of the rest of us can often provide useful information and can sometimes elaborate on Drumaholics occasionally terse responses.
