So, after reading about Purdies clubdate project for his grandson, I have finally had the fire lit under me to re-do my WFL clubbies. I have had the kit for a couple of years waiting for the time, money and motivation to make it shine again. It came to me as a mess. The kit was the victim of a very poor re-wrap in the 80s with thumb tacks holding down the seams on both toms and the kick. Vent holes had been plugged and drilled in new locations and no badges. The sizes are 13,22, with a classic 16 FT. All shells are dated 1958. Bass drum hoops were painted white with the inlays stapled multiple times to keep them in place. I have added a 14" FT to the mix and bought badges for all. Today I ordered the deep green glass wrap from Jammin Sam and will be stripping the old wrap starting tomorrow. Hoping to have the kit finished within a month depending on available free time.
Pics coming soon.
Thanks again Purdie for the motivation!
