Thanks guys!! They look great set up, but they will look better when they are all together... Sling mentioned the tape I used at the seems. I wanted to clear up how that helped.. Slingalud asked me to butt up the bearing edge like D.W. does to cut back on the covering thickness. Splitting is sometimes a problem as this causes a stress point where the covering has to bend in at the edge. I added the 3M trim adhesive tape just at the edge of the underside covering to fill the gap, and to make a smoother transition to the shell for the overlapping end. It strengthens the area that could potentially crack in the future. I also heated and formed the end of the covering in to keep it from stressing at that point.

Here is a pick of the tape added to the underside edge..

Thanks, Ryan

I plan on posting the pictures of the interiors when they are all complete and together. Here is a preview. I wanted the interiors to be just as attractive as the exteriors since I use mostly clear batter heads with smooth white reso's. The bearing edges are flawless, as well as the factory holes that were plugged. They even feel dove feather smooth. Perfect! I requested the rack tom ITC holes to be filled and will actually use the floor tom tone controls. I love the tags and think they are just the right size so they are not overbearing and have an elegant look to them. THANK YOU RYAN ! They Are Above Awesome !

No, Thank you!. Those drums now have a proper home, and are going to be taken care of. I hate to think what they had been through before we found them, Painted multiple times, worn out, and abused. They have come a LONG way.... I do really like seeing them all put together. I only did a portion of the work. That chrome didn't shine up on it's own. Bravo to you as well. Now to get the rest finished up so you can do fills for days....

Thanks, Ryan

Yes painted over but luckily no extra holes and most of the bearing edges were still good. Definitely not worn out, and dunno about abused other than paint on the black set, but not the others..The completed or restored drums are like having a brand spanking new drum set that was made 50 years ago...Only better! I don't believe they ever left the factory this perfect, or with bearing edges this precise...

I just shipped three more off to Slingalud today.... Here are pictures of the custom built replica 10", Oaklawn 12" and Oaklawn 13".

Because we are wrapping these with glass glitter wrap, and it is thick, Slingalud requested that I cut the wrap back from the edge on these to keep it well clear of the bearing edge.

I can't wait to see them with hardware!

Thanks, Ryan
