So I got all the holes plugged, just need to sand down the excess ( I'll take some photos before I do ) Home Depot did have a dowel size big enough for the larger holes, but I just made my own from excess shell wood I had from a cut down drum. So when the wrap arrives tomorrow I'll get the 14" floor done first ( that didn't need any work done )/ I do have a new dilemma though. Should I keep the holes open for the Swiv O Matic bass drum mount? or should I plug those as well and turn the bass drum " virgin " ? I'm thinking about the same for the 13" tom.

Lots of holes there... Keep in mind.. the taper of a drum stick shank plus the tapered section of a Pool Cue... I have used both for plugging holes..
And must agree with Jeff, that an inner veneer would be a nice finish for that bd...
(Missed your last post...re already plugged)
Cheers

Jay, I always like to plug all holes making a virgin bass drum and tom with no mount holes because I like using snare stands or suspension mounts for the tom. My thinking is you can always drill holes later if you want.
Thank you!

That's what I was thinking too Jeff. I think that's the road I'm gonna take. May still do an inner veneer on the bass drum. Wanna see how it will look after I remove the black paint and touch up the plugs with some new " chocolate milk " paint. Thankfully I was able to chip off all that " putty, filler " whatever it was that attached the two bass drums. I'll get some photos tomorrow of where I'm at now before I go any further. I really wanna document this one for all the steps.

Jay,
Great work!! I would say plug all as well. Here are my swiss cheese Slingerlands. Know exactly who was to blame for the Pearl bass/tom mounts. It was 1976. Think fur was out of fashion but still strange times :-).
Tedious to fix these. Thanks for the pics as you go. Mine, very slow mending process.

So I wrapped the floor tom since that didn't need any holes plugged. Holy cow this wrap looks freaking awesome. I cannot wait to snap a photo and show it off. Whoever ends up buying this kit, is gonna have a great sounding, great looking kit. One to be proud of.

Some more photos. I put the lugs on the 13" after I took these photos. Coming along beautifully. First batch is the plugged bass drum and the plugged tom before wrap.

Now for drums with a little Sparkle!
I really like this wrap a lot. The color is great, it's quality material, easy to work with. Really happy with the way this is turning out.
