It's not a terrible ideal . maybe we should charge a small fee once a year . just to be able to buy and sale from , for sale/wanted . that might reduce some of the problem's ,that some of us here has encountered with extreme low baller's , or people asking crazy number's on stuff with no real intention on selling . in a perfect world the honour system would work best!

I think it's a good idea O, I don't sale much here, as much as I do eBay. I have listed a few things here and sold a kit recently to rynosauras. Every once in a while when I remember, I donate. Just a couple of weeks ago I sent David some money via PayPal.

The donation with selling should be entirely optional IMHO. Once you have a mandatory thing, the whiners will come out and flock.

Personally, I think its a good idea, whiners or not.

Yes, I think there will be some complaints. On the other hand, I know I will complain if people who sell things through this forum don't break off a little something for the upkeep. I know that many of us regularly donate a little something-something to the cause and that's awesome. Thanks to everyone who does.

Again, maybe just the suggestion to "tip" the forum for any profit-making ventures would be enough. But just like in the real world, there are people who will try to get away with something for nothing and otherwise take advantage if they can.

How about making a small donation ONLY IF the item sells?

If I sell a drum set for 1000 bucks, I'd have no problem donating 20 - 50 bucks to the forum for a tip -just to say "thanks"

IF I borrow a friend's car to go to a job interview and then I get the job, I would take my friend out to dinner to celebrate. The same thing applies here, in my opinion.

I'm not taking a position on the idea one way or another. But some of you may be a little misguided on the economics of this idea. If there is a mandatory fee then its not the sellers who pay, but rather the buyers who pay.

I think the general idea was that if you want to sell something in the for sale section of the forum here and it sells, that you are charged a "fee", or a "mandatory site donation", or something along those lines. If you list something on ebay, as a seller you have fees whether the item sells or not. If it does, there are more fees that you pay, its all part of the game and the agreement you agreed to to use ebay, so what's the big deal here?

Here, it seems, that some members are thinking of a fee only if it sells....much like some of the old "want advertiser" magazines do (did? are they even still around now that the internet has taken over?) Free to list, fee/donation to the site if it sells.

With this idea, I don't see how your statement of "the buyer pays" is accurate, relevant, or even applies? Please enlighten us on this train of thought.

I realize, that even with this type of honor system approach, someone will still try and skate...but overall and in general, I think it would be a good thing due to the fact that most people are good and honorable and want to do the right thing.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think what he means is... With a fee imposed on goods that are sold, sellers will increase the price of their offerings to offset the fee. While technically the seller is still PAYING this fee, it is the buyer really covers that cost
